In this age, climate change is rapidly altering the face of the Earth. To be clear, global warming is a natural part of Earth’s processes, humans are speeding it up along with polluting Earth. Future generations will not have the same luxuries as we do. Hiking, skiing, and swimming may become activities of the past as the natural entities needed for them disappear. Your great-great-great grandchildren may never see a banana slug, a birch tree, or a golden poppy. These plants and animals, along with many other species, may be extinct. However, this does not have to be the case. There is still hope- if we are willing to fight. If we are willing to fight against those who do not believe in climate change, fight big companies that continue to pollute, and most importantly fight for a healthy Earth. If we do not fight now, then who will? By fight, I believe that violence is not the answer if the history of the Earth Liberation Front (E.L.F) is any indication. Rather, I hold that conducting research and communicating the facts to the public is a much more worthwhile fight to engage in.

My aim is to use writing as a medium to raise environmental awareness within my career. I want to produce works, whether it be an article, or a lab report, that shock people. I want people to be inspired by the works generated by the scientific community and advocates for the Earth. Some people may argue that there is no place for a profession such as mine, we have scientists and we have writers thus combining the two may seem frivolous. But, I challenge this notion as now, more than ever, the scientific community needs to be able to articulate their research to the public. There is only one Earth, and mankind lives on it along with millions of other species. If the Earth is gone, mankind (at the moment) has no other home. Although the path I am choosing may seem dreary, it offers mankind a second chance to re-evaluate what the Earth has done for us. Mankind is dependent upon nature, thus it was self destructive to destroy the origins of our livelihood.
